Goodreads Synopsis
The seriously funny, fabulously flawed Kat Porter has arrived, and she may just steal your heart—not to mention your boyfriend. Readers everywhere will revel in this sharp-witted, well-meaning whirlwind in author Dina Silver’s hilarious new novel, Kat Fight. In her quest for love, Kat makes every wrong turn, juggling two men, one best friend, and her own deeply confused heart’s desires.
Kat Porter is a consummate romantic, eager for her chance to find love and commitment. But after her boyfriend of four years, Marc, begins to grow apathetic and sends her calls straight to voicemail one too many times, Kat finally musters the courage to confront her so-called sweetheart, who seems more interested in dodging her than courting her. Though she’s no fan of ultimatums, Kat is at the end of her considerable wits, and lobs a massive one his way, completely confident that he'll make the right decision when faced with losing her. He doesn't.
With radio silence from Marc, Kat’s lifelong dream of finding a husband and forging a family is decidedly on the skids. That’s when her childhood friend Julie steps in, forcing Kat on a blind date to help her move beyond the break-up. Not only does Kat botch the setup, she instead finds herself in hot pursuit of Julie’s love interest, Ryan Sullivan. A man who, in addition to literally taking her breath away, is the living, breathing personification of everything Kat wants in a husband.
Can Kat connect with the man of her dreams without hurting two of the people she cares most about? At the same time, she must also contend with the quips of her beloved catty coworker Adam, her bi-polar boss Brooke, and a string of comic, unpredictable plot twists. All the while, Kat’s cheeky perspective and generous heart will leave readers adoring every moment of her journey while chuckling and cheering for the ever cute, razor-sharp Kat as she fights to land the love of a lifetime.

How Many Baskets?
So, I’m going to be completely honest friends, I was a beta reader
for this book so this was my 2nd opportunity to read this amazing
book. I wasn’t given credit for being a
beta reader so I believe there is no conflict of interest.
OK, back to the baskets. I
laughed so hard! If you don’t love Adam
there’s something wrong with you! LOL
Kat has some hard decisions to make and in the process makes mistakes like any
person can. Ryan is hot, sensitive but
not perfect in all ways. All men have to
have some flaw right?
5 Baskets!!!!!!!
Q&A with Dina Silver! <3
What makes this story special to you?
Kat
Fight is loosely based on how I met my husband, back in 1997, and is really
special to me because I’ve always wanted to write comedy, and this is my first
shot at it.
How do you develop a character?
My
characters are almost always based on people I know, or people I’ve met
throughout my lifetime. The great thing about even the goofiest person in our
lives is that there is always some one who can relate to them. Everyone’s had a
crazy relative, a snobby friend, a jerky boss - so for me it’s merely dipping
into my own reality show and finding the things that make certain people
interesting and impactful. Even if someone is a shy, mousy wallflower, they can
still have a bold impact on your story.
How does
plot happen for you? Does it evolve as you write or do you outline it in
advance? Describe the process.
I am not a fan
of writing an outline. I have written two novels so far and each one has
literally spilled out onto the computer when I sat down to write. I truly don’t
believe I could write a story unless I have it worked out in my head first. I’m
not saying that character studies or plot development are a waste of time, it
simply works better for me to write in a more freestyle manner.
Your book is written in the first person. Why did you
choose that point of view?
Both
of my novels are written in the first person, so I guess this is the POV I’m
most comfortable with. While it does limit you to only one person’s opinions
and interpretations, it’s easier for me to channel myself into my protagonist
if I can hear her voice and write through her emotions.
What personal experience do you bring to your book?
A
great deal, actually. Many of the scenes in both, Kat Fight, and One Pink Line,
are lifted from my own life experiences. It can be very therapeutic!
What else
can you tell us about yourself or your writing process?
Just that I
feel so grateful to be able to self publish and finally have my writing
available to people. That being said, it’s still a ton of work. I spend hours
(not 2 or 3, more like 6) a day trying to market my book and myself and reach
as many people as I can. The hardest work truly begins once the book is done!
What’s your fave?
