SYNOPSIS: 1 Corinthians 13:8: Love never fails. Grayson Hanson likes to pretend he’s a superhero, sent to earth to fight off the bad guys. In reality, he’s a seven-year-old boy who wears those same superheroes on his leg braces, and fights off bullies at school. His mother, Dr. Autumn Hanson, will do anything to protect her son, including leaving her prestigious position as one of Duluth’s top orthopedic surgeons. Hoping for a fresh start, she moves Grayson to Cloquet, Minnesota and opens her own clinic. Steadfast in her desire for a new life, Autumn agrees to be interviewed for a feature article in the local paper. Kade Franco is a well respected journalist, who at forty-two has had his own share of love’s regrets. As the city’s most eligible bachelor, Kade can have any woman he wants, but he’s waiting for his meant-to-be. Where he doesn’t expect to find her is in the beautiful hazel eyes of the newest doctor in town. Autumn finds Kade Franco’s sexy chocolatey brown eyes and strong lumberjack physique to be her kryptonite. She’s spent the last seven years building a wall around her heart, but fears it isn’t strong enough to withstand a man of steel determined to show her love never fails.
First thoughts after…
I can't wait to see who's story is next!
How distracted did I get?
Autumn Reflections is a wonderful and emotional spicy Christian romance. I whipped right through this story for many reasons. I related to Autumn unlike I have to most characters. I enjoyed reading about a mom of a special needs child that has the struggles I do but so much more. I couldn't imagine. I feel this is a subject tip toed around but Katie Mettner dove right in and nailed it. Kade…he's one Hottie McTottie that you could take home to mom. He knows what he wants and goes for it. No questions. He's sexy, intelligent, and so loving. Grayson, this little boy will steal your heart. He's super smart, sweet and takes care of his momma even though she doesn't know it at times. This story is a pull at your heart strings kinda romance where a woman learns to conquer her fear of love. This story isn't for the faint of heart but I highly recommend it.
I give Autumn Reflections….
5 Baskets!
This morning we’re visiting with Hottie McTottie Kade
Franco, from Cloquet Minnesota. Welcome to Forget The Housework, Kade.
Kade: Thank you for having me Tobi! I’ve heard nothing but
great things about you. I’ve done my research too. I know things about you your
husband may not even know. *wink* I hope you’ll be calling in for pizza tonight
and reading Autumn Reflections.
Tobi: I’ve already finished, goofball, that’s why you’re
here! You had me at “Mr. Puddlemaker”.
Kade: Mr. Puddlemaker? Okay, maybe I don’t know everything
about you. What have I missed?
Tobi: *Giggling* Autumn secretly called you that when she
was trying to reason with herself about why she shouldn’t fall in love with
you.
Kade: *Chuckling* Guess we know how that worked out for her!
Tobi: Not very well, but it made me laugh. That leads me to
ask, is Autumn is naturally funny? Does she keep you laughing?
Kade: If you ask her she will say no, but I think she’s
naturally funny a different kind of way. Maybe it’s the doctor in her, but she
can always lighten the mood with a joke or sharing a story. She doesn’t realize
it, but her humor is what made me fall in love with her.
Tobi: You seemed to fall pretty fast for Doctor Hanson. Her
humor drew you in, what kept you coming back?
Kade: The mystery of who Autumn Hanson was. I fell in love
with the woman, not the doctor. I just needed to know more about her. As an
investigative reporter she piqued my interest, and what I like to call my
“story alarms” started going off.
Tobi: Story alarms?
Kade: That’s where I know there is more to the story, and
I’m determined to find out what it is. I had no idea the extent of what
Autumn’s story was, but I knew there was one. It was heartbreaking and
heartwarming to finally read her whole story.
Tobi: After finishing the story, I completely understand
what you mean. How’s your arm, by the
way.
Kade: Ahhh, my arm. It’s much better, thanks. It’s that
whole man of steel thing. Autumn laughs, but it’s true. I heal at super human
speed. It’s come in handy ever since I was a kid. Aunt Kat wouldn’t let a
broken bone stop me from helping her, you know.
Tobi: *Smiles* Can I just say, I love Aunt Kat! She’s a
sweet lady and I completely enjoyed that part of the story. It’s fair to say
she did a great job raising you.
Kade: Can I just say, I love Aunt Kat too! My life surely
would be so much different if I hadn’t had her. She was my mother and my
father. She taught me invaluable things about life that I never could have
learned any other way. Being a sixteen year old kid in a hospital room where a
dying man lay, being comforted by a dog, and then watching as that light was extinguished
was not something I could learn in a textbook. Those were the experiences that
taught me empathy, and how to read people and situations. I feel it’s the most
important part of my job, and it certainly was the most important part of
getting to know Autumn. I hope I can teach those same things to Grayson.
Tobi: *Heart melting* Grayson is such a sweetheart. He’s
pretty lucky to have you in his life.
Kade: *Shrugs* I always tell him I’m pretty lucky to have
him in my life. He’s a once in a lifetime kind of soul, if you know what I
mean. Being part of his life is a privilege, it really is.
Tobi: My son, Brian, is a once in a lifetime kind of soul,
so I totally understand what you mean. They weren’t meant to be here, yet they
beat the odds and are old souls already. What’s your favorite thing to do with
Grayson on a cold Minnesota day?
Kade: *Hang on Tobi, Grayson needs my help*
Tobi: Hi Grayson!
Grayson: Hi, I’m sorry for interrupting, Ms. Tobi. Ace got
his head stuck under the chair. He’s such a silly dog.
Tobi: *Laughing* Dogs are silly sometimes, aren’t they? Why
don’t you stay and visit with us too? I’ll ask you the question. What’s your
favorite thing to do with Kade on a cold Minnesota day?
Grayson: Watch Spiderman! Or, or Iron Man, Superman, or the
Avengers. We like to read together too, we are finishing the second Harry
Potter book. My favoritest thing in the whole world though is eating lumberjack
pancakes with Kade and Momma Hanson. They are warm, sticky and so good in my
tummy.
Tobi: Wow, it sounds like you know how to keep warm on a
cold day, Grayson.
Kade: He sure does. He can eat more pancakes than me. He’s
such a rock star the Tradition House put a new breakfast on the menu, the
Lumberjack Junior.
Tobi: Well, I won’t keep you much longer. I know you’re a
busy guy and Grayson probably has to get to school. I just have one more
question. Can you describe Autumn in
three words or less?
Kade: Dream.Come.True.
Tobi: *sighs* Thank you so much for talking with me today Kade and for popping in Grayson.
Excerpt:
I was sipping a cup of
coffee and watching Gray tuck into a stack of pancakes of epic proportions.
True to his word, Kade had picked us up in his truck at eight o’clock and
brought us to the Family Tradition House just a few blocks from my clinic.
There was a long line of people waiting for ‘the best lumberjack pancakes’ in
the town and I felt my heart sink when I realized we wouldn’t have time to eat
before the players got to the clinic. However, with the newscast last night,
Grayson had become an overnight celebrity and we were seated immediately, at
the insistence of everyone else waiting.
“Can I have a bite?” I
asked him, he looked up at me, sticky maple syrup running down his chin and
grinned.
“I’ll always share with
you, momma.” He reminded me. I cut a piece off with my fork and held my hand
under it as I brought it to my mouth. The syrup and butter dripped off of them
and they literally melted upon contact with your tongue.
“Oh. That’s good.” I eyed
his plate some more and he pulled it back a little.
“You didn’t want pancakes.”
He said very grown up. “You wanted eggs.”
I set my cup back down in
my saucer and noticed Kade smirking. “You did. You said you wanted eggs.”
“You’re taking his side in
this? Men.” I smarted and crossed my arms over my chest. Our food was on its
way, but apparently the cook also heard the rock star was in the house and sent
his right out. My plate was set before me with eggs and surprisingly, a
heavenly pile of flapjacks. “A Mrs. Lumberjack for you, and a full Mr.
Lumberjack breakfast for you, Franco.” The waitress ruffled Grayson’s hair and
then left us to eat.
I looked up and Kade was
smirking. “What? I can’t help what they call things.”
“Mrs. Lumberjack.” I
muttered taking the jar of syrup from him, our hands touching long enough to
remind me that could never happen.
