Love, Alabama is an interesting story with it being told from several character’s point of view. Emma is thoroughly enjoyable, though why she lets her ex have so much control over her for so many years, is beyond me. Matthew is the perfect guy to swoop in and help her realize she needs to cut the invisible strings holding her down and holding her back from dating other men. Tad, Emma's ex, is just weird and creepy. Though not all women are vindictive in the story, being from the south, I've seen vindictive and most of these women were. However, I felt it was a bit overboard especially towards Emma. The characters were well written and the story had many twists and turns that kept it rolling along quickly. The unexpected humor had me laughing aloud several times. Love, Alabama was a love story about learning to forgive yourself, taking a chance in life and letting go of the baggage dragging you down. Emma is a strong woman who had the courage to move past the things that hurt her in life. If you love small town romance with plenty of heart then you’ll want to grab Love, Alabama for a lazy afternoon or summer night.

Susan Sands grew up in a small Northwest Louisiana town, where the seeds for future stories were inspired. Her lifelong love of reading motivated her to finally begin writing as her midlife crisis at age forty—better than a boyfriend or red sports car, according to her husband.

Susan lives with her dentist husband and three nearly-grown children in Johns Creek, GA.
