For many women, Ranger Battalion Surgeon Michael MacGregor is the ideal man. He’s far better than average looking, a generous tipper, not to mention an officer and a doctor. So when he encounters a woman resistant to his charms, he finds himself… intrigued.

Kacie Morgan has had her fill of arrogant military men since the last one left her with a shattered heart and one heck of a career rut. Now, with her prestigious fellowship starting in the fall, all she has to do is survive the summer—and her little sister’s wedding.

When an ill-fitting bridesmaid dress has Kacie wanting to temporarily shake things up in her carefully planned life, she knows just the man to call. They agree to a no-strings, summer fling, although it isn’t long before Michael wants Kacie for forever.

But to win her heart, he’ll have to confront the nightmares from his past if they’re to have any chance at a future.

I loved this book from Cheryl Etchison!  Once again she's woven a story perfectly balanced of romance, drama and sexiness.  Kacie and Michael are thrown together at her sister's bachelorette party, though she wants nothing to do with a military man she can't seem to stay away.  Both are dealing with ghosts from their pasts.  Though they each seem to be able to help the other though both are a bit stubborn to let go.  Their love and care for their families are undeniable and make both characters very likable.
I adore an amazing military romance and the fact it's based fairly close to home tends to make me drawn in as well.  Cheryl Etchison has a wonderful town with intricate characters that weave in and out of each other's lives like a flawless quilt. I highly recommend this book!

Here and Now - Cheryl Etchison

The Rangers of the 1st/75th fight hard, train hard and play hard. They are physically strong and mentally tough, disciplined and courageous. But all their military training hasn't prepared them for falling in love.

Former Ranger Medic Lucky James feels right at home working long night shifts in the ER, but less so during the day, when his college classes are filled with flirtatious co-eds. When his 19-year-old chem lab partner shows up at his work with dinner for “her Lucky,” he quickly enlists the help of Rachel Dellinger, a nurse and fellow third shift vampire.

Rachel is a people pleaser at heart, but she’s finally decided enough is enough when it comes to her on-again, off-again boyfriend. When Lucky begs Rachel to help him ward off the advances of his teenager pursuer, she blackmails him into helping move her things out of the apartment she shared with her ex into a place all her own.

From there a friendship is born between two people just trying to make it through the night. Neither are living in the past or planning for the future. Until one day changes everything.

Lucky is having a hard time adjusting to civilian life.  He loves his work at the hospital but adjusting to college at 30 isn't how he imagined.  His one saving grace is his friendship with Rachel, his 3rd shift co-worker.  Rachel can't seem to stay away from Lucky and she lays down tons of rules to avoid getting hurt again.
The chemistry between Lucky and Rachel is so far off the charts it's like the 4th of July every time they're near each other.  I love that Lucky is sexy, protective and unique in the world of military romances, he doesn't have PTSD.  Rachel is independent a bit stubbornly so.  Though, she's very likable and funny.
To say I was engrossed in Here and Now is an understatement.  The story was well written perfectly paced and I didn't want to put it down when I was about to fall asleep at night. If you enjoy a steamy military romance with an enormous amount of heart, I highly recommend Here and Now.
