Taming the Highlander - May McGoldrick

This new historical romance from May McGoldrick pits one spirited lass against her biggest challenge yet: a Highland lord who has no desire to lose his heart.
Innes Munro has the ability to "read" a person’s past simply by touching them or something that belongs to them, but her gift comes with a price. When her normally quiet life is upset by a dark force intent on stealing her gift and her life, Innes is spirited away to the place where her family believes she will be safe. But the desolate castle of Conall Sinclair holds terrors of its own, for the master is a scarred and bitter warrior who has seen too much of war and cruelty.
Isolating himself from his clan and the rest of the world in a secluded holding on the coast of Fife, Sinclair is reluctant to let the spirited Innes close to him, but as his feelings for her grow, the dangers that pursue her will force the two of them to forge a bond that will save them both.

Innes is ready to head home and hunker down after her sister's wedding. Though some marrital issues for Ailein, her sister, hold her back to keep an eye on things. If only she could avoid her brother-in-law's brother. There's something about Connal that calls to Innes. Connal wants to run off. He needs his solitude after being trapped and tortured by the English. After saving Innes though, he can't seem to stay away from her. Connal and Innes' story is so fun. Both are strong willed and loving. Their banter is playful and fascinating. They are highly intelligent and evenly matched. Their chemistry was so explosive I thought my kindle was going to combust. I haven't read a Scottish Historical romance in a long time, but I'm glad I jumped in with both feet on this one. It's well written and intriguing from beginning to end. Taming the Highlander is a wonderful story about two broken souls who find each other and help heal the pains from each of their pasts.
