TEMPTING MR. WEATHERSTONE
Wallflower Weddings #0.5
Vivienne Lorret
If it were up to Ethan, life and love would be as predictable as the figures in his ledgers - certainly nothing like the adventures Penelope longs for. Yet his childhood friend has grown into a beautiful, feisty woman blissfully unaware of the danger she causes when near. Ethan knows he must save Penelope-and her reputation...but can he save himself from the temptation of her lips?

Ethan likes order and no change in his life. So, when his closest friend, Penelope comes to him telling him she's going to run off he's determined to show her sameness is best. Penelope wants some sort of adventure. She's been in love with Ethan most of her life and she can't sit back and watch him anymore.
Penelope is fun. I love that she's determined to show Ethan that change can be good. Ethan is portrayed as imperfect in his looks and I love that. It's different and doesn't happen often. Ethan and Penelope are so similar but yet different enough to keep you interested in the perfectly flowing story. For fear of giving too much of the novella away I will end my review saying, that if you enjoy historical romance of any kind I highly recommend reading Tempting Mr. Weatherstone.
Ethan moved the quill off to the side, hovering over the blotter so the ink wouldn’t spot the ledger. He regarded Pen with a speculative lift of his brow. Had there ever been a time when she allowed him to ignore her?
As if unaware of this simple fact, she stared back at him, waiting for a response. He obliged her, repeating her ridiculous statement back to her, verbatim—all accept for the bit about the natives. “You are going to hire a coach to take you as far away from here as possible. Quite possibly, you will never return. You might find yourself on the continent or on some sailing vessel—Though I might add that finding yourself in another place suggests a shock of some sort. In other words, a complete lack of planning.”
She let out a huff and crossed her slender arms, the action causing her woolen shawl to bunch over her breasts. “Oh, why do I even bother?”
“Haven’t the faintest.”
This time, Penelope glared at him, her nose wrinkling in a way that drew his attention to her freckles. He liked her freckles. They were balanced and orderly—four on the left and four on the right.
It was ironic that eight such sensible freckles could be on someone so lacking in sensibility.
DARING MISS DANVERS
Wallflower Weddings #1
Vivienne Lorret
Oliver Goswick, Viscount Rathburn, needs money and soon. With time ticking away and his inheritance held hostage until he’s properly wed, Rathburn’s slim options point to just one solution: a mock courtship. In need of the perfect bride, he knows of only one candidate: his best friend’s wallflower sister. The plan seems flawless; except for just one thing...he can’t help falling in love with her.
Poised, polished Emma Danvers knows nothing good can come of Rathburn’s scheme. Spending the next two months engaged in a mock courtship is not what she’d imagined for her final season. Yet, charmed by his roguish ways and the inexplicable hammering he causes in her heart, she accepts his challenge.
For Emma, keeping the secret seems easy when it was just a game... but as Rathburn begins to see past her reserved exterior to the passionate woman within, the risk of losing her heart becomes all too real.

Emma was approached by Rathburn to create a faux engagement in hopes of gaining his inheritance from his grandmother. He has to prove to the dowager he's worthy of it before she will release it. As it seems, she only approves of Emma, for him to settle down with.
I felt for Emma that she's so in love with Rathburn, but she's in so much denial she won't admit it to herself. Rathburn is determined to get his inheritance so he can complete rebuilding his childhood home and complete the hospital he'd secretly been putting together. He truly cares for Emma since they were young. His loving manner as the story progresses was sweet and romantic.
Once again Vivienne Lorret has swept me away in a wonderful historic romance. I highly recommend this perfectly woven story if you enjoy historical romances.
She looked at Rathburn, watching the buttons of his waistcoat move up and down as he caught his breath. When he looked away from the door and back to her, she could see the dampness of their kiss on his lips. Her kiss.
He grinned and waggled his brows as if they were two criminals who’d made a lucky escape. “Not quite as buttoned-up as I thought.” He licked his lips, ignoring her look of disapproval. “Mmm…jasmine tea. And sweet, too. I would have thought you’d prefer a more sedate China black with lemon. Then again, I never would have thought such a proper miss would have such a lush, tempting mouth either.”
She pressed her lips together to blot away the remains of their kiss. “Have you no shame? It’s bad enough that it happened. Must you speak of it?”
He chuckled and stroked the pad of his thumb over his bottom lip as his gaze dipped, again, to her mouth. “You’re right, of course. This will have to be our secret. After all, what would happen if my grandmother discovered that beneath a façade of modesty and decorum lived a warm-blooded temptress with the taste of sweet jasmine on her lips?”
WINNING MISS WAKEFIELD
Wallflower Weddings #2
Vivienne Lorret
With her fiancé suddenly engaged to another and her reputation in tatters, Merribeth Wakefield needs a bold plan to reclaim her life. She must be brave. Confident. She must… kiss a rake? The suggestion is ludicrous! Yet, when Merribeth finds herself alone with the dark and brooding Lord Knightswold, suddenly the plan doesn’t seem so farfetched. So she does something she never thought she’d do—she kisses him.
But he has everything to gain…
The Marquess of Knightswold—Bane to most—has no use for the affections of women. Well, none lasting longer than a single night. A plot for revenge weighs heavy on his mind, leaving no room for romance. So, when a shy, witty miss borrows a kiss from him in a darkened room, everything he thought he knew about innocent debutants vanishes along with her.
Yet when a twist of fate brings Merribeth within Bane’s grasp, he’ll have to resist her charms—or risk losing everything—for the sake of his heart.

Merribeth is practically ruined after her beau of five years deserts her for another. A friend puts it in her head kissing a rake would help her be more confident. If only that rake weren't Lord Knightswold. He truly is irresistable, yet he's determined to remain a bachelor and never have an heir. Bane, aka Lord Knightswold, can't seem to stay away from Merribeth. So, he'll help her lure her ex back by teacher her to flirt.
Merribeth just wants to be herself and not worry about what the Ton thinks. Though she didn't truly want her ex back she felt it was the only way to save herself. She has a true strength and fun wit that kept me attached to her story from beginning to end. In this story Bane is the willful one. Yet he's so charming and caring that it's easily overlooked for this handsome Lord. Merribeth and Bane gravitate to each other throughout the story whether intentional or not. Their attraction is explosive and undeniable.
If you enjoy a super steamy historical romance with an unlikely couple I recommend Winning Miss Wakefield.
He had been thoroughly distracted by Miss No Name, Miss Sign of Venus, as she ran her fingers through his hair. It felt heavenly. Wondrous. Divine. How long had it been since a woman had simply stroked his hair? Though he’d never admit it if asked, this was one of life’s greatest pleasures.
Closing his eyes, he’d trusted this stranger more than he had anyone in years, and he couldn’t put reason behind it, only the instinctive sense he’d come to rely upon. He was good at figuring people out, which was why he preferred the company of horses.
Then, a shadow had crossed over his face, accompanied by a hushed rustle of silk. Drowsily, he opened his eyes to see her gazing down at him. Her soft fingertips petted the shorter hair at his temples and followed the line of his whiskers to the lobes of his ears.
He’d opened his mouth to tell her that he’d willingly pay her five hundred pounds per annum if she’d never stop, but she shushed him with a shake of her head.
“Don’t say a word . . . please,” she’d whispered, leaning closer. “I only mean to borrow this for a moment and return it directly.”
Then she’d lowered her mouth to his.
FINDING MISS MCFARLAND
Wallflower Weddings #3
Vivienne Lorret
Fans of historical romance authors Lorraine Heath and Sophie Jordan will adore Vivienne Lorret's latest Wallflower Wedding novel.
Delaney McFarland is on the hunt for a husband—preferably one who needs her embarrassingly large dowry more than a dutiful wife. After the unspeakable incident at her debut, Delaney knows marrying for love is off the table, but a marriage of convenience—one that leaves her free to live the life she chooses—is the next best thing, never mind what that arrogant, devilishly handsome Mr. Croft thinks. Delaney plans to marry for money … or not at all.
Ever since the fiery redhead burst into his life—in a most memorable way—Griffin Croft hasn't been able to get Miss McFarland out of his mind. Now, with the maddening woman determined to hand over her fortune to a rake, Griffin knows he must step in. He must help her. He must not kiss her. But when Griffin's noble intentions flee in a moment of unexpected passion, his true course becomes clear: tame Delaney's wild heart and save her from a fate worse than death … a life without love..

Delaney is determined to marry a pauper and take half her dowry and live on her own. The last thing she expects is the man she had an incident with in her debut to catch her interest and or him to have his eye on her. Griffin can't seem to make a decision about who he'd like to marry to help carry on the family legacy. He knows of Delaney's plan but he can't seem to stay away from her.
Delaney is very unique for historical romance. Her care for those looked down upon in society is nothing I've read before. She's is unshakable in her determination not to marry for love. Griffin is very different from the other men in the series. Who doesn't love a built boxer in historical clothing? He's very single minded when it comes to Delaney and trying to protect her from herself. They're undeniably very like each other and extremely attracted to each other. The story flowed perfectly though at the end I would have teeny tiny bit more closure.
After reading this entire series in 5 days, I have to say that Vivienne Lorret has taken over as my favorite historical romance author. If you enjoy historical romances that are as steamy as a warm pond in the cool of a summer morning I highly recommend Finding Miss McFarland and entire Wallflower Wedding series.
“I don’t understand you, Miss McFarland,” he said, studying her with new interest. “Last Season, I was nearly convinced you went out of your way to ensure that we were never seen in the same place, to avoid association to the—”
“The incident,” she supplied quickly. “That is the only delicate way to refer to what happened at my debut, Mr. Croft.”
He grinned at the haughty way she addressed him, saying Mr. Croft as if accusing him of a wrongdoing or misbehavior. “Then, a year after the incident, I cannot go three steps without running into you. Why, you practically laid your bonnet at my feet yesterday, daring me to pick it up.”
Her lips parted on a gasp, offering him a flash of her pink tongue. “I did no such thing. It was the wind and nothing—I repeat, nothing—more.”
A bit of deviltry flared to life within him. Now, he wanted to hear her haughty address again. He wanted to goad her into those three syllables. “Yet you came here to spare my mother’s feelings and then stayed long enough to encourage her, praising her in a way that gave every indication of your interest in her son.”
“Mr. Croft!”
He felt her admonition cover him, tightening the flesh over his bones. He could feel heat radiate from each drop of blood in his veins, feel the length of each hair on his body. His follicles contracted—released—contracted with those three syllables out of her small pink mouth.
Mis-ter Croft.
